What happens after an offer is accepted?

Reservation, private contract, due diligence, notary — the sequence in plain language.

What happens after an offer is accepted?

An accepted offer is the start rather than the end. The next stages are structured, and each one has a document attached to it.

Reservation

A small reservation payment typically takes the property off the market for a defined period while your lawyer begins checks.

Private purchase contract

The contract sets the price, the completion date and the conditions. A deposit — commonly ten percent — is paid at this point. The terms matter, which is why independent legal advice at this stage is essential.

Completion

Completion takes place at the notary, where the public deed is signed, the balance is paid and keys are handed over. Registration at the land registry follows.
